Crystal Me
CrystalMe explores offering all your private data to the public any time.
The danger of losing ones privacy because of different governmental or private organizations or simply by accessing the internet is spreading through the media. Additionally, security is one of the major issues in computer science. Nevertheless, many people are willing to openly share their lives with others by the means of blogging or community platforms like for instance Facebook. Crystal Me tries to go one step further. The goal of the project is to give the whole world live access to your personal life by publishing your activities through your mobile phone.

This concept is based on the idea of assimilating context information like: is the user on the move, whom is he/she talking to, is the user relaxed, etc. This can be achieved through the integrated sensors in modern mobile phones. The information is then published through the Nokia Mobile Web Server to make it available to the public in real time.

Concept

The basic idea is based on using the Mobile Web Server in combination with different integrated sensors of modern mobile phones (like microphone, camera, GPS, accelerometer …) to gain an overview of the user’s current activity.

The sensor data processing is always running in the background in order gather all the context information available. The results can be accessed through a mobsite, which is hosted by the mobile phone and provides a user interface for the internet user. Based on an AJAX design pattern, the mobsite is updated in specific time intervals, based on the current data from the background process.

Status

This project is currently still in development. An early pre-release version that does not implement all the features described above has already been released in order to participate in the Forum Nokia Mobile Web Server Challenge — CrystalMe managed to win the first price.
