New Python for S60 (PyS60) tutorial
Python for S60 has been getting a lot of attention lately. Many interesting applications have been released that are based on this language (especially several nice accelerometer-apps), there's a new Mobile Python book from Juergen Scheible and Nokia has just released a Python e-learning module.
Now, the introductionary slides from the PyS60 module at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg (Austria) are available for free on the web as well. They give an overview of the Python programming language along with some examples of the use in the S60 environment - much like the structure in the Mobile Python book. If you do already know something about programming, it's a starting point that you can use to get to know the main features of Python in a fast and efficient way. Once you're interested, order the book to get even more examples, more APIs and explanations.

New project: Gomoku - freeware game for UIQ devices
Gomoku (also known as Connect Five or Pente (TM) - see Wikipedia) is a traditional and very popular game that is a lot of fun and easy to play for two players. All you need is a sheet of checkered paper (now: UIQ device), a pen and a friend, and you're ready to go. Your task is to get an unbroken row of five stones in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row. As you play in turns, you will usually have to think of some nasty traps in order to win.
This game is one of the challenging exercises of the Symbian Academy training materials. They are provided free of charge to universities that are part of the Symbian Academy program. Lecturers and students get access to the full source code as well as tasks to go through in order to learn more about Symbian OS development.
